Hosting Set-up and Guidelines
How to Create a Tournament
- As always the first step in hosting is to take a deep breath and relax
- Now that you are calm create the tournament while being careful to choose am or pm as to the correct time. List: name as the exact tournament name ; Location is STRAIGHT INTO DARKNESS ; Number of rounds are set to 8 ; Time between rounds is set to 5 ; remember to keep the entry fee low unless it is a big tournament like 2v2
- Once the tournament is created:
1)Pull up tournament types
2)Locate the type you would like to host
3)Copy rules
4)Return to TD Center
5)Click "Customize Tournament Rules"
6)Paste rules in the big white box at the bottom then hit submit
7)Click to return to host you tournament
8)Look in the Blue area to open check-in and click that
- Update your spam to the correct tourney information
- Spam the lobby every 3-5 mins. or so or if anyone asks for the information
- You must have 4 to close the tournament
- Don't forget to say tyfj "name" for everyone that jumps your tournament
- Always announce closing any objection to make sure no one else wants in
- When ready to close look in the blue again and click close registration then in the same place click start tournament
- Pull up round one and type out pairs on the lobby
- Check for an early round 2 and if there is one then type that in the lobby also
- Watch for reports of who won or lost
- Remember wtg "name" blnt "name" tyfp
- Click the winners name in the td center
- Check to see what your next round is and continuse liek this until all games are played
- At the end click close out tournament then keep clicking each step that comes up in that box and then return to administer tournament until all steps have been completed
- Congrats you just ran your tournament!
Things not to Forget
- Be sure to change back and forth from caps to lower case. Caps are for tournament related information only. Any talking or chatting you want to do needs to be done in lower case letters.
- Always remember to answer any questions you may be asked while you are the acting host.
- Present yourself as professional. Staff members represent this league and set the example. If you go in breaking rules and showing off then the members will think this is acceptable and do the same. Just remember the punishment is worse for staff in these cases.
- Keep your spams to 3 lines or less. Yahoo has a built in spammer detection program to bar spammers. Any spam over 3 lines usually gets your id barred.
- Keep your td name updated with your league id.
- Try to watch the lobby for the starting of problems, questions, or timers. It is your responsibility to try and solve any disputes and to keep drama out of the lobby. Also, anyone breaking the rules you must screen shot it and send it to administration. (screen shots can be taken by hitting print screen then open paint and hit ctrl + v then save the file) (several screen shots are needed at times to get the whole conversation)
- As staff you are required to run atleast 2 tournaments a week. When or if your idle time reaches 7 days on the tournament tab you will be removed. There is no other warning, this is the only warning you will recieve. If you know you will be gone longer than 7 days and wish to keep your staff position you need to ask to be put in vacation status.
- No htd's are to be processing td applications. You run a risk of being removed if you process any applications. This is left up to administration to do.
- All htd's over see td's so any td needing a answer can ask a htd for help. Administration does not need to have to answer everything.
- Td's need to find their own htd to train them. This is totally up to the new td. However, any htd caught being online and not offering to train a new td will be removed from head staff.
- No one is to handle any situation that has to do with anyone close to them. Turn the situation and all facts over to another member of staff. They will handle it in your place.
- If for any reason you cannot get enough to close your tournament do not cancel it. Instead just remove everyone that is already in then close the registration and leave it. The next time you come in to host you can pull this tournament back up and edit the tournament information to run it then.
- All staff is required to run yahoo messenger. You are not required to show available while you are online, but if you do then you are responsible for pulling league duties. If you do not want to pull these duties then the best advice I can give is to be invisible.
- Remember as staff it is up to you to keep the league fun and entertaining. Try to keep the tournaments rolling when you have enough and when you dont mass out on messenger to try to get people in.
- Lastly, but most important, do not ever under any circumstance give out your league or td password. This is your information only and is not to be shared.
Best of Luck with everyone of your tournaments. If you have any questions or problems see a member of head staff for clarification.
